VAL JONES was born in the Midlands and studied in Art & Design in Leeds. She later returned to Birmingham where she gained an MA in Art & Education at Birmingham School of Art. She subsequently taught there for over six years before moving to Devon where she joined Dartington Printmakers and the 21 Group of Artists.
Her landscape inspired prints and paintings express wildness and movement, colour and vibrancy, with glimpses of features indicating scale and contrast. Increasingly they are moving towards a more abstract approach. Her pursuit of experimentation with monotypes, the most painterly form of printmaking, have made the journey into near abstraction chasing what she refers to as that “Inner sound”. valjones.co.uk |
