  APARTMENTS IN ALEPPO |   Charcoal on paper | 80 x 120cm
RICHARD ALLMAN Foundation Course, Norwich School of Art 1967-68; Dip. AD, Central School of Art and Design, London 1968-71; M. Ed, Exeter University 1985-87
At art school 50 years ago in London Richard worked on large seven foot square abstract colour field paintings ... but since then he's become more interested in images based on what he sees around him. It is mainly a graphic approach, using ink, charcoal  and acrylic marks on big drawings. He has been fascinated by urban regeneration projects and anything that grabs his eye from road markings and wooden boat construction to allotments, building structures and, more recently, destruction caused by bombing as reported in the media.
