PETER CLOSSICK Through tactile texture, the painting falls back into the very matter from which it’s made - coming into vision with something suggested. The physicality, paint density with application and movement across the surface are inseparable from the content, through which Clossick presents a rigorous enquiry informed by his own experience. From direct observation, his work reverberates with aspects of the human condition with notions of freedom, selfhood and representation.
Clossick's work has been exhibited at the John Moores, Art Miami, Palazzo Strozzi, Camden Art Centre, Whitechapel Gallery, Barbican, Mall Galleries and many other venues. He has been awarded prizes in the Columbia Threadneedle, Lynn Painter-Stainers and the NEAC. Media appearances and publications include Sky Arts, BBC Radio 4, Painting Without a Brush and the Dictionary of Artists in Britain. His work is held in many private collections. https://www.peterclossick.com/ |
