HILARY SOPER is a painter and printmaker based in Slapton, South Devon. Vigorous paintings in oil reflect her life-long involvement with beach and sea, home and garden, and far-flung places including Antarctica. With pocket sketchbook a constant companion, thumbnail images provide memory jolts rather than detailed information, which progress to finished work in paint and original print. Printmaking offers exciting challenges and enjoyment of the crafts involved with different techniques; the focus is currently on etching and monotype, often in combination, and collaborative printmaking is a relatively new adventure.
