CLARISSA BEOTHY Art is for her a way of life, not a separate activity. It is a combination of love, skill and attention. It forms her life meditation.
The nature of her work is the desire to express something about human existence, to give shape and form to the emotive forces that lie beneath the appearance of everyday reality.
She is a full member of the Newlyn Society of Artists, the Falmouth Art Club and an Associate Member of the Penwith Society. She was shortlisted for an SWA award in 2001 and completed a three-month residency in Morocco in 2002.
In 1994 she was awarded the Ferdinand Zweig Scholarship. This enabled her to travel extensively throughout Hungary and Romania, documenting interviews with contemporary artists. The video record, titled 'Denied An Audience' was presented publicly and is now housed at the Falmouth College of Art library, Falmouth.
